Steps to prepare existing wall surface For Ecostic

PAINTED GYP WALLS

  1. Existing painted gyp wall to be wiped with all-purpose cleaner so it is free of dust, dirt, mildew, and grease.

  2. Nail holes, chips, cracks, and wall irregularities should be filled with vinyl spackling compounds. When the compound dries, sand, smooth, and seal the wall with a primer.

  3. Apply a coat of acrylic primer/sealer which provides a new, even surface on the wall which makes it easier to slide wall coverings into position. It also prevents the wall itself from absorbing moisture, which protects against future damage. Once the primer is dry, your wall is ready for Ecostic.

WOOD PANELING WALL

  1. Existing wall is to be wiped with an all-purpose cleaner so it is free of dust, dirt, mildew, and grease.

  2. If the grooves in paneling are 1/4 inch deep or more, fill them in with caulk. For the best results, you can caulk the grooves no matter how shallow. Wipe away the overflow of caulk by running a putty knife along the groove.

  3. Once the caulk is dry, prime the paneling with a coat of acrylic primer/sealer. Once the primer is dry, your wall is ready for Ecostic.

MDF WALL

  1. If your walls are made of MDF, apply a coat of acrylic wall primer/sealer. Once the primer is dry, your wall is ready for Ecostic.

PLASTER WALL

  1. Fill any cracks in your walls with plaster filler. Use a putty knife to level. When it's dry, sandpaper over the surface until smooth.

  2. Soak a sponge in water and then squeeze out any excess moisture. Rinse the walls to remove dust.

  3. Once wall is dry, prime the wall with a coat of acrylic primer/sealer. Once the primer is dry, your wall is ready for Ecostic.
